Abstract

Thumbnail image of graphical abstract 4 GPa pressure, 600 °C, and a reaction time of 5 minutes—under these conditions LiSi can be prepared from the elements. Like the homologous silicides MSi (M DOUBLE BOND NaBONDCs), which have been known for a long time, LiSi also belongs to the Zintl phases. The Si− ions form a three-dimensional network in a structure comprising puckered Si8 rings. Li+ ions are located in the cavities (shown on the right). ⊗ DOUBLE BOND Si, ◯ DOUBLE BOND Li.
