Abstract

Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERPs) are "computer-based technologies that integrate data across an organization and impose standardized procedures on the input, use and dissemination of that data." In 2002 alone, it was estimated that organizations’ total spending on ERP applications reached $76.63 billion, yet as few as 10 - 15% of all ERP implementations run smoothly from the start providing all the anticipated benefits that the system was designed to deliver. This paradox poses a serious problem for business educators. Consequently, a new agenda for undergraduate education is necessary. This paper reviews the existing lit erature on integrating ERP-based curriculum into undergraduate education, and organizes this literature in a framework to find similarities and differences between existing approaches. We present a framework for integrating ERP systems which can serve as a foundation and starting point for educators to integrate ERP system concepts into their curricula.
