Abstract
We consider a spin glass model with complete p-spin interactions. The coupling constants and the external magnetic field are gaussian independent identically distributed random variables with equal mean and variance. This provides the model with a gauge symmetry which precludes replica symmetry breaking. Based on ideas from the Guerra-Toninelli interpolation technique we prove that the replica symmetric solution is indeed exact. The model displays a phase transition. One of the motivations for considering this model comes from similar problems in the analysis of noisy channel communication. In this context it is important to determine the phase transition threshold which corresponds to a noise value beyond which reliable communication is not possible. This connection and related results will be outlined.
