Abstract
beta-arrestins are scaffold proteins that link G protein-coupled receptors
to multiple "nonclassical" signaling pathways. In this issue of Molecular
Cell, Mo et al. (2008) show that beta-arrestin1 also switches off
signaling through the STAT1 transcription factor, thereby inhibiting
interferon-induced antiviral responses.
