By analyzing heat and exergy transfer processes of heat exchangers operating below the surrounding temperature, the effect of fouling on the low temperature heat exchangers performance has been conducted. Taking the parallel flow, counter flow, and cross flow low temperature heat exchangers as examples, the effects of some non-dimensional parameters on the low temperature heat exchangers performance under the fouling condition are given by introducing exergy transfer units number.
