38. CHARACTERISTICS OF OVERHEAD LINES IN DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS UNDER OVERLOAD DUE TO ICING OR BREAKING OF CONDUCTORS

, , , and . (1975)

Abstract

The characteristics of overhead transmission lines are gene-rally established by taking int-;;-~~c-ol~nt fo~ces the values of which are determined from wind and low temperature assumptions. However, other load assumptions can be taken into consideration for they correspond to phenomena the probabilities of occurence of which are not negligible and are often the causes of incidents on the system. The following have therefore been envisaged under static and dynamic load: • the asymmetric ice overload, • the breaking of conductors. A uniform method of determining the pole-cross-arm assembly is then proposed.
