Abstract

Narratives of violence against Black women are not prioritized in the mainstream news but Black feminists amplify them on social media. This commentary revisits a commentary I wrote “Digital Defense: Black Feminists Resist Violence With Hashtag Activism” for this journal to acknowledge the ways in which Black feminists use social media to amplify stories of violence against Black women and organize and advocate for justice for them in the absence of mainstream media coverage. This commentary revisits that essay and the advancements of Black digital feminism.
