The Book of Haggai and the Rebuilding of the Temple in the Early
Persian Period.
J. Barker. New Theology Review, 26 (2):
103 - 106(2014)
Abstract
The article presents a rhetorical analysis on the biblical
account of the rebuilding of the temple in the early Persian era on the
book of Haggai in the Hebrew Bible. Arguments and counterarguments
surrounding the temple reconstruction and Haggai's refusal to his
prophetic call to rebuild the temple are mentioned. Objections on the
rebuilding are deemed to be grounded in traditional and material concerns.
The book of Haggai is found to depict the vibrancy and strength of a
religious tradition.
