“Synthesis And Characterization Of Mixed Ligand Complexes Of Mn(iii) With 5-bromosalicylaldehyde And 2-hydroxyaryl Carbonyl Compounds Or Â-diketones”

, and . Weekly Science Research Journal, (October 2013)

Abstract

Mixed ligand complexes of Mn(III) of the type Mn(L) L', (HL = 5-bromo 2 salicylaldehyde and HL' = 2-hydroxyacetophenone, 2-hydroxypropiophenone, pentane-2,4-dione, 1-phenylbutane-1,3-dione or 1,3-diphenylpropane-1,3-dione) have been synthesized by the reaction of Manganese(III) acetate with a mixture of two different ligands in 1:2:1molar ratios. The resulting complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductances, magnetic moments, IR and FAB mass spectral studies. Octahedral geometry has been proposed for the prepared mixed ligand complexes.
