A new functionalized mesoporous silica entitled SBA-Pr-IS-MN was produced and characterized by diverse techniques like FT-IR, TGA, XRD, SEM, TEM, and BET. SBA-Pr-IS-MN was obtained by functionalizing SBA-Pr-Cl with Isatin and Malononitrile; also, its sensor activity was studied upon the addition of a wide variety of cations and anions by fluorescent spectroscopy. It was demonstrated that the addition of Ag+ quenched the fluorescence intensity. There was a good linear relationship with an appropriate detection limit of 4.18 × 10−6 M.
