Improvements of the RPA-dielectric function of a plasma are investigated using the framework of Green's-function technique which are of importance especially if bound states (excitons) are formed. It is shown that beyond the contribution of free carriers to the dielectric function a contribution due to the polarizability of the bound states arises.
