The use of non-conventional structures for
UHV lines is the subject of intensive research,
which is approaching a more advanced and concrete
stage with the construction of some sections of such
lines.
The non-conventional line, as a complex stru.s:_
ture, reacts to loads applied from the outside in a
substantially different way from that which occurs
in a conventional line.
The report considers some of the betterknown
solutions, giving, in respect of the latter, the
results of a systematic investigation on the static
and dynamic behaviour of a typical line subjected
to wind and ice, or else subiected to exceptional
events that produce intense dynamic action. In particular
the report indicates those features of behaviour
that have to be taken into account in design.
