Wikidata and Icons: KGs for GLAM

This presentation introduces the concepts of knowledge graphs, semantic integration, Wikidata, and Wikidata "tools of the trade" to a GLAM audience. We then show the current state of religious Icons in Wikidata, and show an example of how to edit various entities: iconographer, iconographic school, erminia, icon, measurements, material, technique, iconographic subject (a title of the Virgin Mary), scientific article, academic journal, issue. We finally show a simplified form of the resulting knowledge graph, including the graph of all these entities, plus links to external sources: Getty AAT, Nomenclature for Museum Cataloging, ISBN, ISSN, academia.edu
