Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD 25): II. Psychobiological effects on the Siamese fighting fish

, and . Science, (1954)

Abstract

Four groups, each consisting of four Siamese fighting fish, were exposed for six hours to four different concentrations of lysergic acid diethylamide (LDS 25), 1 mu g/ml, 5 mu g/ml, 25 mu g/ml, and 50 mu g/ml dissolved in spring water, and compared with controls. Controls were "normal," but the remaining four groups after being removed from the drug at first displayed a stupor like state, with complete recovery occurring for the low dose group within a day and for the high dose group within a week. The authors suggest that their " . . . technique provides a new bioassay method for LSD 25 and possibly other ergot drugs." (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2004 APA, all rights reserved)
