Abstract
Gupta et al. (2004) and Xu et al. (2005) recently studied the time-lapse
seismic monitoring feasibility of CO2 sequestration in a deep saline
reservoir that had expected post injection pressures of 7000 psi
(\~48 MPa), and reservoir temperature in the range of 57C to 62C.
To our knowledge, laboratory measurements of acoustic properties
of CO2 are not readily available beyond 40 MPa. On the other hand,
if CO2 is treated as a type of gas and its properties are computed
using the Batzle-Wang equations, it displays a large discrepancy
with regard to Wang and Nur's laboratory data (1989).
