Geometric Modelling and Stress Analysis of Model Device for Torsion

Abstract

Taking an example of geometric modelling of the device for torsion where the advantages of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) compared to the classic method of design are emphasized when operating. The modelling of the parts, their position and connection into assembly block is done in Sketcher, Part Design and Assembly Design module CAD/CAM/CAE software system CATIA V5. The stress analysis of the modelled device done in Generative Structural Analysis module CATIA V5 system, justified the usage of Finite Element Method (FEM) in those cases where the prototype was not possible to make to be used for its experimental testing. The results of the stress analysis of the device by experimental tensometric methods where used for comparison.
