Abstract

The vision of a gentelligent production is to control and adjust the manufacturing process based on real-time data communication of the machine and the workpiece. This information is processed by a so-called Virtual Planner. The Virtual Planner is an integrated platform for adaptive process planning, control, monitoring, and modeling. Process and workpiece information as well as knowledge about already applied process parameters are the groundwork for process planning. In case of disturbances in the production, e.g., due to machine failures and subsequent downtimes or waiting queues in front of single processes, the process control unit updates the process plan and controls its execution. The role of the process planning and the process control module can be compared to a navigation system in individual transportation. The process plan obtained from the process planning module corresponds to the initial planning of the route at the beginning of the trip. The process control module corresponds to the process of controlling the actual position and speed as well as adapting the route according to the current traffic situation. In order to allow a consistent retraceability, the individual process plan is stored on each part.
