By means of Hooke's law of elasticity the characteristic values used for the linear-elastic FE-calculation can be defined with the butt tension and shear test. The comparison of the experimental and computational results allows also a statement about the performance of the used material laws. The von Mises strength criterion and the extended Drucker-Prager model are not suitable to describe the mechanical behaviour and the yielding of structural adhesives. The yield criterion based on Beltrami is sufficient to describe the behaviour of this structural adhesive under uniaxial or mixed tension/shear load states.
