Synthesis, Characterization and In Vitro Antimicrobial Screening of Some PyrazolylPyridyl Substituted Dicoumarins

Abstract

In the present study, a series of pyrazolyl pyridyl substituted dicoumarins has been synthesized. The synthesis of various 3',3''-(4-(1'''-phenyl-3'''-(pyridin-3''''-yl)-1H-pyrazol-4'''-yl)pyridine-2,6-diyl) dicoumarins and 3',3''-(4-(1'''-phenyl-3'''-(pyridin-4''''-yl)-1H-pyrazol-4'''-yl) pyridine-2,6-diyl)dicoumarins has been carried out by the reaction of various 3-coumarinoyl methyl pyridinium bromide salts with 3-(3-(1-phenyl-3-(pyridin-3-yl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)acryloyl)coumarins and 3-(3-(1-phenyl-3-(pyridin-4-yl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)acryloyl)coumarins (coumarin chalcones) respectively under Krohnke's reaction condition. Structural assignments were based on spectroscopic methods (IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-APT, Mass spectral data and elemental analysis). The compounds were subjected to in vitro antimicrobial screening against representative panel of bacteria (Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi) and fungi (Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans).
