Abstract

All of wind load, ice shedding, electrodynamic force of short-circuit current will cause asynchronous vibration of different phase conductors and reduction of interphase clearance. The interphase clearance of compact transmission lines is much shorter than regular lines, so the compact lines have more severe problems than regular lines in adverse conditions. To synchronize the vibration of different phase conductors and avoid the breakdown of interphase clearance, interphase spacer should be installed, which is the key technology for the compact line. To design the parameters of the interphase spacer for the 500kV compact transmission line, such as structural length and core rod diameter, mechanical characteristic of spacer must be analyzed and studied. In this paper, a computational model of spacer is introduced to calculate the exact stressed state of the spacer at different compressions and different placement. Furthermore, to determine the location where the spacers are installed in the span, a system model of overhead line is presented. For simulation, firstly add the spacer model to line system according to design solution, then excite the system by some kind of excication, and obtain the reponse of the line, finally estimate the design solution. • At last a complete design solution of the interphase spacer for the 500kV compact line is presented.
