Abstract

A lexicographic definition for the English adjective PREGNANT (in its main sense) is proposed. The form of the definition, as well as all the semantic components used, are argued for and justified; a comparison with the definitions of the same adjective in three authoritative dictionaries is offered. The discussion is carried out within the theoretical framework of the Explanatory Combinatorial Dictionary.
