Abstract
The correct dimensioning of the transmission
line insulators requires the detailed
knowledge of the site pollution
level.
In Hungary a new, continuously operating
air pollution monitor was developed,
which is suitable to characterise the endangerment
of the insulators. The equipment
continuously bubbles the air across an
absorbing solution, determines the instantaneous
change of conductivity and expresses
the soluble ammount of the pollution
in equivalent NaCl /lg/air rn3
•
The continuous measurement results
the probability distribution function of
the air pollution level. Regarding to the
meteorological conditions and the processes
of the deposition of the pollution on the
insulator surface, the distribution of the
pollution stress of the insulators is determinable.
The paper describes the operation of
the measuring equipment and the use of the
results for insulator dimensioning.
