Abstract

This study contained a detailed comparison of the Air Quality Index of 3 cities across the world i.e. Delhi, London, and Mexico City from Jan 2021 to Dec 2023. It has been observed that every indicator of AQI was high in Delhi except in the Monsoon seasons, where Delhi’s AQI showed some dip. The variables that were taken into consideration were population, population density, number of petroleum motor vehicles, Road Dust, and Smoke emission industries, and how they contribute to air pollution. Delhi showed a rapid increase in population in the last decade while London and Mexico City showed less growth in pollution as well as in population density. Delhi also showed a sudden increase in petroleum vehicles in a span of 10 years ultimately resulting in the building of more and more roads which are the two major factors for air pollution. There are various non communicable diseases by air pollution, Asthma, COPD, and lung cancer. As Delhi showed the poorest Air Quality, it also showed the highest number of cases of these diseases. The government had taken various initiatives to tackle this problem, but it didn’t seem enough and other solutions would also be taken into consideration.
