Higher Education Review, 24 (3): 37-41 (1992)

Abstract

Three British journals were used to evaluate citation counting as a means of evaluating research quality in two applied knowledge fields, continuous education and management education. The study concluded that citation analysis can provide evidence about the status of a knowledge field but cannot be used as a measure of the quality of research.
