I just came back from the 2019 Learning Analytics and Knowledge (LAK) conference hosted by Arizona State University. This conference, surely one of my favorites, is inching to its 10th anniversary next year. I still remember when I was in the 2nd year of my PhD in 2010, Chris Teplovs told me about an exciting, upcoming gathering of 60~ people in Banff, Canada to discuss a thing called “learning analytics.

Pre- and Post-Conference Virtual Sessions
for the 2008 IIIS' Conferences
The Organizing Committees of 2008 IIIS' conferences decided to implement pre- and post-Conference virtual sessions for the 2008 IIIS' Conferences. This decision was based on the experiment, related to this kind of virtual sessions, done in the 2006 IIIS' conferences; on some of the suggestions that 2006 conversational sessions generated, and on the survey made among the participants of these conferences. Each pre- and post-conference virtual session will be associated, in one-to-one relationship, to each face-to-face session of the conference.

The International Conferences on Conceptual Structures (ICCS) have been held annually in Europe, Australia, and North America since 1993. Their focus is on the formal analysis and representation of conceptual knowledge with applications to artificial intelligence, computational linguistics, and related areas of computer science.
The ICCS conferences evolved from a series of seven annual workshops on conceptual graphs, starting with an informal gathering hosted by John Sowa in 1986. For the seventh CG workshop in 1992, the informal workshop notes were upgraded to reviewed and edited proceedings published in the Springer-Verlag series of Lecture notes in Artificial Intelligence.
In 2014 the ICCS conference will be held in Iasi, Romania at the Al. I. Cuza University, the oldest higher education institution in Romania. The university was founded one year after the establishment of the Romanian state in 1860. Iasi has a long tradition in higher education and has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Romanian social, cultural, academic and artistic life.
Call for Contributions
SCooP aims at joining people from different fields, such as math, computer science, chemistry, physics, biology etc., who are interested in Community of Practice (CoPs). The workshop shall facilitate the exchange of experiences and implementations. In particular, to address questions such as:
* What are scientific or educational practices in educational and scientific communities?
* Can these practice be automatically detected/ collected/ or modeled?
* What are implementations for CoPs?
* Which features make these tools so attractive and how do they support (practices of) CoPs?
Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh 16-17 June 2009 The aim of this national conference is to bring together practitioners in the teaching of science disciplines in HE to share their experiences, identify common challenges and an opportunity to share effective practice. The programme will include keynote lectures; short oral presentations; hands on workshops; posters and exhibitions.
