Die Qualität von Open-Source-Code entspricht der von proprietärer Software oder geht gar darüber hinaus. Das geht aus dem zum dritten Mal veröffentlichten Coverity Scan Open Source Report hervor. In der erstmals 2006 durch das U.S. Department of Homeland Security initiierten und 2009 von Coverity fortgesetzten Untersuchung wurde die Vollständigkeit und Qualität von Open-Source- und proprietärer Software mit Coveritys gleichnamiger Testplattform durchleuchtet.
Zu Installation ist kein externes optisches Laufwerk erforderlich; das Tool UNetbootin schreibt das etwa 870 MByte große Image unter Linux oder Windows auf einen USB-Stick, der mindestens 1 GByte Kapazität haben muss. Vor der Installation lässt sich Easy Peasy risikolos im Livemodus ohne Änderungen am Dateisystem auf Herz und Nieren testen.
Integritätstest für Datenträger, vor allem zur Erkennung manipulierter USB-Sticks (siehe auch c't 1/08, S. 24). Seit Ende 2007 werden 1-GByte-Sticks manipuliert und als 2- oder 4-GByte-Versionen verkauft; das Tool klärt die Sachlage sofort.
