eduroam is an acronym for roaming in the education and research area. It provides an infrastructure that offers Internet connectivity to the users of the participating federations. This is done by verifying the credentials of the user's at the home institution through a RADIUS hierarchy.
eduroam started as a European cooperation and is currently developed by the Géant2 project JRA5 in collaboration with the TERENA TF-Mobility. For a complete list of participants and more information on the European hierarchy, please go to http://www.eduroam.org.
eduroam in Germany uses a RADIUS hierarchy with a top-level proxy hosted by DFN. Participating institutions can be found on the map.
