The original edition of this book was published in 1988. The first author, Ted Hannan, passed away in 1994. Since the book went out of print a decade ago, I have been approached by colleagues and Ph.D. students to go ahead with a new edition. In my opinion, the book contains useful material that is not contained, at least not to the same extent, in other books on the subject.
