Abstract
Compact transmission lines using line post or
HORIZONTAL VEE® insulators have proved to be environmentally
acceptable in the United States and
other countries of the world. Compaction reduces
the total profile of the line, thus lowering visual
impact, reduces the height and size of individual
structures by the way loads are introduced
into them, and makes very efficient use of the
land and right-of-way (r-o-w).
The paper discusses the technique of accomplishing
the design and construction of compact
lines and describes the wide variety of applications
that have been installed to date. It al so
defines the environmental constraints that existed
at the point of installation, as well as general
costs.
