Education company under investigation

.
Chronicle of Higher Education, (2005)

Abstract

The article reports that Career Education Corp., one of the biggest for-profit higher-education companies in the U.S., disclosed last month that the Department of Education had put a freeze on approving new applications for additional campuses or acquisitions while it examines the company's financial records and compliance with federal student-aid regulations. Career Education already faces lawsuits from stockholders who say they suffered financially because the company did not promptly disclose information that could be relevant to its financial performance.
