Abstract
Ultrasmall ZSM-5 nanocrystals prepared by silanization of zeolitic seeds with phenylaminopropyltrimethoxysilane (PHAPTMS) exhibit enhanced surface areas (ca. 700 m2/g), hierarchical porosities, and enhanced catalytic properties for large molecules. The well-defined subnanometer zeolitic pores and relatively uniform mesopores formed by interstitial voids catalyze reactions that are otherwise severely limited by diffusional limitations, such as polyethylene cracking.
