Abstract

This paper describes a relatively short transmission line with unique problems. It has been built through a picturesque and sensitive area, over steep-sided low mountain ranges at the foot of the highest mountain in the Victorian Alps. The route of the line was chosen after a public inquiry and special consideration was given to the clearing, access tracks, towers and other items of the line. Consultation with conservation groups was maintained and the assistance of public bodies concerned with the forest and other matters was obtained. The final result has given a line which blends well with the landscape and is not objectionably visible from most major viewpoints.
