Abstract
The central theme of the Lagos, Nigeria, seminar/workshop was recognition for the teaching profession, particularly as being the most important educational change agent. Part 1, "Thematic Issues" includes: "Language Curriculum and Teaching in Multilingual Environments" (Sharmila Pillai); "The Situation in Nigeria" (E. O. Adeniyi); "The Situation in Gambia" (E. O. Adeniyi; E. C. Umeano); "Science, Technology and Mathematics Teaching through New Delivery Systems" (Sharmila Pillai); "Innovative Ideas and Techniques for Science, Technology and Mathematics Education in Africa" (J. O. E. Otuka); "Vocational and Technical Education in Nigeria" (R. N. Oranu); "Science and Technology Teaching Confronted with New Curricula in Nigeria" (R. N. Oranu); "Strategies for Teachers Coping with the New Curricula" (R. N.
