Corona performances of various conductor
bundles suitable for EHV and UHV transmission lines
were tested in the EHV and the UHV corona cages at
the Shiobara laboratory. Audible noise, radio
interference and television interference were
measured during natural rain and under artificial
rain condition.
Audible noise and radio interference levels
calculated by using these results were well agreed
with the long-term test results of EHV test lines.
Culculated hum noise level was, however, much
higher than the test line result. This could be
attributed to the differences in conductor againg
and rain rate.
