Аннотация
Wire ropes in bending are subject to secondary stresses in addition to the
bending stress arising from rope curvature, because individual wires and
strands cannot be displaced friction free from the compression to tha tension
side in the curved rope•).
This paper attempts to clarify such secondary stresses in the bending of wire
ropes. The author first assumes a rope uniformly curved with a constant
radius throughout its length. The second part of the paper examines a rope
In contact with a sheave, where only one part is curved while the remainder
is straight.
