Abstract

Great importance is attached to the problem of wind-induced vibrations and the danger they present to high-voltage overhead conductors. This report deals with the results of vibration tests perfonned while the line was In operation. Com· parison measurements were made on ACSR conductors with various tensile stresses and conductor types. 111e Influence of bundled conductors. vibration dampers and special arrangements of tire suspension point were also Investigated. In add· ttion to tire vibration measurements, the static bending stress at tire suspension clamp was also measured. While at tire beginning of our tests conductor vibrations were considered the main problem. as they used to be in the past. the measurements obtained made us realize that dynamic and static bending stresses at the suspension clamp have to be considered together with the tensile stress and that tire static bending stress at the suspension clamp is an important factor which has so far been Ignored.
