Unter dem Namen Alfresco Labs 3 haben die Entwickler des Enterprise-Content-Mangement-Systems Alfresco eine Betaversion ihres Open-Source-Produkts vorgestellt, das eine Alternative zu Microsofts SharePoint sein soll. Nach Angaben von John Newton, einem der Mitgründer des mittlerweile bei EMC angesiedelten Documentum, handelt es sich um die erste Open-Source-Alternative zu SharePoint. Voraussetzung für die Entwicklung war, dass Microsoft sein SharePoint-Protokoll veröffentlicht hatte.
Die Freie Groupware Kolab vereinfacht die Zusammenarbeit in Unternehmen und Behörden durch eine zentrale Verwaltung von E-Mails, Terminen, Kontakten und Aufgaben. Das Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (BSI) stellt auf dem LinuxTag 2008 den Prototypen des KDE-PIM-Tools Kontact nun auch für Windows und Mac OS X vor. Die neuen Versionen basieren nicht auf Cygwin oder einem anderen Emulator, sondern sind nativ auf Basis Qt für die jeweiligen Plattformen in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Kolab-Projekt programmiert. Bis spätestens Ende des Jahres sollen die Portierungen abgeschlossen sein und nach Test aller Anwendungsszenarien freigegeben werden. Damit bietet Kolab nun auch eigene Clients als freie Alternative auf den bisher Outlook vorbehaltenen Plattformen an. Die Möglichkeit der Anbindung über die proprietären Outlook Connectoren für Kolab besteht weiterhin. Außerdem wurde die Horde Groupware in den Kolab-Server integriert und zusammen mit diesem ausgeliefert. Christian Böttger
