The phantom eye syndrome refers to phantom phenomena, such as phantom pain in the eye and visual hallucinations, after the removal of an eye (enucleation, evisceration).
This is a highly readable and thought-provoking bit of commentary on Augustine's solution to the problem of evil. In short, it depends on how you define evil. Does it have being, or no?
