The announcement this week that Google released a beta version of a robust cloud computing platform called Google App Engine that lets anyone build apps on Googles renowned and highly scalable infrastructure underscored a key trend in the software industry today. Namely that software platforms are moving from their traditional centricity around individually owned and managed computing resources and up into the cloud of the Internet. Googles entry into a space that has been largely dominated so far by Amazon and its Elastic Compute Cloud as well as a few smaller players like Bungee and Heroku has turned the Internet cloud computing space into a fully-fledged industry virtually overnight. What makes these offerings so interesting is their promise to turn enormous amounts of operational competency and accumulated economies of scale (which are enormous in Amazons and Googles cases) into a highly competitive new software platform, akin to Windows or Linux, except entirely hosted off-premises and on the Internet.
A Matlab interface to Dapper - an OPeNDAP in-situ data service
Dapper is a newly emerging, community-standard OPeNDAP server for in situ data. DapperM is a Matlab interface to data served by the Dapper OPeNDAP server. Matlab functions include an interactive lat/lon/depth/time data selection tool and functions for obtaining and using selected profile and time series datasets. The functions are described below, and an example is given. Documentation is built into Matlab for convenience of the user.
This document describes the implementation of a DAQ model. It provides a number of tools to develop a data acquisition system.
To facilitate comunication between different objects, DAQ++ implements a very simple Observer model, in which some of the DAQ++ objects are defined as DAQpp::Observables and some as DAQpp::Observers. Observers subscribe to the messages defined in the Observables and are notified whenever a change occurs.
The basis of the system is the DAQpp::Module object. It represents a detector or DAQ unit. As such, it implements the basic DAQ commands to get ready, start or stop the DAQ, retreive the data, etc.
