We believe that writing correct concurrent, fault-tolerant and scalable applications is too hard. Most of the time it's because we are using the wrong tools and the wrong level of abstraction.
Akka is here to change that.
Using the Actor Model together with Software Transactional Memory we raise the abstraction level and provides a better platform to build correct concurrent and scalable applications.
For fault-tolerance we adopt the "Let it crash" / "Embrace failure" model which have been used with great success in the telecom industry to build applications that self-heals, systems that never stop.
Actors also provides the abstraction for transparent distribution and the basis for truly scalable and fault-tolerant applications.

Normally smartphone events are tightly coupled to your phone device itself. When your cell phone is ringing, your phone speaker plays a ringtone. The Animal Sniffer Plugin is used to build signatures of APIs and to check your classes against previously generated signatures. This plugin is called animal sniffer because the principal signatures that are used are those of the Java Runtime, and since Sun traditionally names the different versions of its Java Runtimes after different animals, the plugin that detects what Java Runtime your code requires was called "Animal Sniffer".
ANTLR (ANother Tool for Language Recognition) is a parser and translator generator tool that lets one define language grammars in either ANTLR syntax (which is YACC and EBNF(Extended Backus-Naur Form) like) or a special AST(Abstract Syntax Tree) syntax. ANTLR can create lexers, parsers and AST's. The goal of Autofetch is reduce the modularity penalty and programmer burden of specifying associations which should be loaded with an object query. These specifications are sometimes are called fetch profiles, prefetch directives, or joins. These specifications are an important performance optimization because they reduce the number of round-trips to a persistence store whether that be a relational database, object database, or flat file. Autofetch is a library which integrates with object persistence tools and automatically handles prefetching data. Using dynamic program profiling, Autofetch determines the right prefetch directives for each query a program executes.
