Einst erfand Delicious die "sozialen" Lesezeichen. Zuletzt stand der Dienst aber kurz vor dem Aus. Die Youtube-Gründer wollen ihn nun zum Twitter-Konkurrenten umbauen.

Social bookmarking has been around for several years, and it is finally beginning to gain in popularity because it is a powerful way to organize and share information. Harvey Raybould from OfficialWire.com gives an overview of the use of social bookmarking systems in business promotion.
Manage and share your research papers
Mendeley Desktop is more than a reference manager:

* Tag, full-text search, share, and annotate your research papers collaboratively
* Back up your research papers to Mendeley Web and access them online
I came across this awsome site which makes the voting process automatic or favs for your social bookmarking sites, and it won't cost you a red cent!
Automatically get as many Diggs or votes, whatever the particular bookmarking site calls it, as you want.

Bookmarking as marketing estrategy.
I recently came across two really cool websites that submit your social bookmarks to various online social bookmarking services. This is often referred to as a submission service.
The first one I have just signed up for was OnlyWire.com and the other is a service from eKstreme called the socializer. So this begs the question as to just what is "the Socializer"?
The Socializer allows you to easily submit a link to several social bookmarking systems. Instead of having a link to each social bookmarking website, you have a single link to all of them!
The Socializer is a free web service from eKstreme.com.
So what about Onlywire?
Onlywire permits its users to submit various articles, posts or unique, keyword-rich, web pages to a avariety of social bookmarking site and search engines all at once. Submitting to these various engines is just one of the best ways to drive traffic to your web site. Submission services like OnlyWire and the Socializer make it easy for your users to "vote" up your site in social bookmarking engines.
I trust this was useful.
Sincerely,
Daniel Tetreault.
the folks over at eBizMBA have put together a list of the top 20 social bookmarking sites. They based their results on data on a combination of Compete.com and Quantcast data
This listing, I hope, may help you find the right social bookmarking service and understand the different kinds that exist. (exempt for some Specialized bookmarking, I have mainly limited this list to web pages, HTML. Not videos like dabble, maps like Tagzania, rss like wigzag...).
I want a social networking site for academics where we can upload journal articles, book chapters, whatever source material we want, tag them appropriately, and create knowledge/school constellations depending on what we’re currently reading and working
Here are the top 20 largest social bookmarking sites ranked by a combination of Compete and Quantcast data. For each site, we show unique U.S. monthly visitor data as well as respective rank.
Online reference managers are extraordinary productivity tools, but it would be a mistake to take this as their primary interest for the academic community. As it is often the case for social software services, online reference managers are becoming power
Clean. Bold. Graphic. Big buttons with clear icons give you instant access to a good variety of search engines, including specialized bookmarking, blog, buzz, and social networking sites.
