Description

Under a plan backed by Delaware Gov. Jack Markell, Delaware imposes a surcharge on electric power users that averages as much as $3.50 a month to subsidize Bloom's new plant at the former Chrysler site in Newark, Del. At a dedication yesterday, Bloom said it already employs 80 workers there and is looking for 70 more. Markell hopes production will eventually call for hundreds of additional employees. University of Delaware President Patrick Harker hopes the company will help UD develop its energy engineering programs.
