Brüssel will die Mitgliedsstaaten darauf einschwören, bis 2016 über die Hälfte der Publikationen aus öffentlich geförderter Forschung frei zugänglich zu machen. Den Weg weisen soll das Programm "Horizont 2020".
Der Fakultätsrat der nicht als arm geltenden Elite-Universität warnt in einem Brandbrief, dass sich die Hochschulbibliothek den Bezug wissenschaftlicher Zeitschriften großer Fachverlage nicht mehr leisten könne.
Die EU-Kommission hat eine Umfrage zum offenen Zugang zu und zur Langzeitverfügbarkeit von wissenschaftlichen Informationen gestartet. Es geht vor allem um das umstrittene „Open Access“-Prinzip.
