Situationen är sämre i dag än före kärnkrafts-olyckan i Tjernobyl. Regeringen har inte lyssnat på våra varningar. Sverige har hävdat sig bra på strålskyddsområdet i EU. Men nu hotar de svenska insatserna att krympa, i synnerhet som flertalet forskare går i pension de närmaste åren. Det skriver tolv ledande forskare, organisationstoppar och myndighetspersoner, däribland chefen för Strålskyddsinstitutet Lars-Erik Holm.
Yesterday, during a briefing in Latvia's capital Riga, NATO Gen. Philip Breedlove said that NATO and the United States are switching their defense doctrine from assurance to deterrence in Eastern Europe in response to a “resurgent and aggressive Russia." Breedlove added that “We are prepared to fight and win if we have to ... our focus will expand from assurance to deterrence, including measures that vastly improve our overall readiness,” Breedlove said following talks with Baltic region NATO commanders.
Conditions at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant are far worse than its operator or the government has admitted, according to freelance journalist Tomohiko Suzuki, who spent more than a month working undercover at the power station. A book by Tomohiko Suzuki detailing many of his experiences at the plant and connections between yakuza crime syndicates and the nuclear industry, titled "Yakuza to genpatsu" (the yakuza and nuclear power), was published by Bungei Shunju on Dec. 15.
The Electrical Trades Union has banned its members from working in uranium mines, nuclear power stations or any other part of the nuclear fuel cycle. The union says uranium is the new asbestos in the workplace. The ban will apply to ETU members in Queens
