Nach Trumps Entscheidung für Strafzölle auf Stahl wächst weltweit die Angst vor einem Handelskrieg. Zeitgleich setzten elf Pazifik-Staaten ein Zeichen für den Freihandel, auch ohne die USA und China.
US-Präsident Trump hält wenig von multilateralen Freihandelsabkommen und setzt lieber auf bilaterale Deals mit einzelnen Staaten. Aus TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership / Transpazifische Partnerschaft) stieg er gleich nach Amtsantritt aus. Jetzt heißt der Vertrag CPTPP und wird auch ohne die USA Wirklichkeit.
Genau vor einem Jahr hatte US-Präsident Trump den Rückzug seines Landes aus dem Transpazifischen Handelsabkommen TPP angekündigt. Die verbliebenen elf Länder haben sich nun auf einen neuen Vertrag ohne USA geeinigt.
