Diesen Juli feiert das Transatlantische Freihandelsabkommen (TTIP) sein dreijähriges Bestehen und sein größter Wunsch ist es, Realität zu werden. Doch wenn TTIP kommt, wird es für alle Seiten nachteilig sein.
Keine Kopien, keine Fotos - Handys müssen abgegeben werden. Die Rede ist vom neu eingerichteten TTIP-Leseraum im Bundeswirtschaftsministerium. Die Zutrittsbedingungen sind ziemlich umstritten - aber warum sind sie überhaupt so?
Vor drei Wochen kündigte Bundestagspräsident Norbert Lammert (CDU) "uneingeschränkten Zugang" zu Verhandlungsdokumenten zum Freihandelsabkommen TTIP auch für Abgeordnete des Bundestags an - doch Einblick in die Unterlagen nehmen können die Parlamentarier noch immer nicht.
Das Interesse an den Verhandlungen um das Freihandelsabkommen ist groß. Doch die TTIP-Dokumente werden höchst geheim gehalten. Wikileaks will das jetzt ändern – und eine Großdemonstration am Samstag.
Das Verhandlungsmandat für das europäisch-kanadische Freihandelsabkommen CETA bleibt Verschlusssache. Auf Anfrage der Verbraucherorganisation foodwatch lehnten sowohl das Bundeswirtschaftsministerium als auch die Europäische Kommission und der Europäische Rat die Veröffentlichung des Dokuments ab. Im Zuge der Debatte über das Freihandelsabkommen TTIP zwischen EU und USA hatten sich alle Akteure für mehr Transparenz ausgesprochen

Die Bundesregierung fordert die EU-Kommission auf, ihre neue Geheimhaltung beim Freihandelsabkommen TTIP rückgängig zu machen. In einem Brief an EU-Handelskommissarin Cecilia Malmström nennt Bundeswirtschaftsminister Sigmar Gabriel (SPD) die jüngste Entscheidung der Kommission "einen sehr bedauerlichen Rückschritt" in den "gemeinsamen Bemühungen um größtmögliche Transparenz".

Erst vorige Woche war bekannt geworden, dass Malmström einen Bericht über die Verhandlung zur Verschlusssache erklären ließ.
Auch Bundeswirtschaftsminister Gabriel hatte sich darüber beschwert.
Bundestagspräsident Norbert Lammert (CDU) zeigt sich verärgert darüber, dass die EU-Kommission Protokolle über die Verhandlungsrunden zum Freihandelsabkommen zwischen der EU und den USA nicht mehr wie bisher an die Mitgliedstaaten verschicken will. „Ich bin nicht einverstanden mit dieser Entscheidung."
Die EU-Handelskommissarin Cecilia Malmström hatte bei der Anhörung "Transparenz" über TTIP versprochen, als die zukünftigen Kommissare von Europarlamentariern zur Bildung der EU-Kommission befragt wurden. Die liberale Schwedin gehörte nicht zu den umstrittenen Kandidaten und ihr Versprechen erleichterten ihr den Weg in die Kommission. Doch eingehalten wurde nichts, weshalb Abgeordnete von grünen und linken Formationen vor dem sogenannten "reading room" protestierten, wo sich die geheimen TTIP-Unterlagen befinden, weil ihnen der Zugang verweigert wurde.

Der Umgang mit TTIP von EU und Bundesregierung
Im Umgang mit Entwicklungsländern, aber auch mit Industrieländern wie China, Russland, der Türkei und noch vielen anderen führen die westlichen Industriestaaten gerne das Wort Demokratie im Mund und fordern diese von den genannten ein. Nur, die Demokratie und die damit verbundenen Eigenschaften guter Staatsführung ("good governance") wie Transparenz, Partizipation, eine freie und plurale Presse, Nachvollziehbarkeit von Entscheidungen und ihres Zustandekommens werden in den demokratischen Ländern auch nur dann in Anschlag gebracht, wenn es den Regierenden und den vorherrschenden Lobbygruppen und ihren willfährigen Qualitätsjournalisten gerade in den Kram passt.
