Die gerade zu Ende gegangene 14. TTIP-Verhandlungsrunde hatte zwar einige Fortschritte gebracht – aber keine Durchbrüche. Keinen der großen großen Streitpunkte des geplanten transatlantischen Handelspaktes konnten die Experten beider Seiten aus dem Weg räumen.
Der schnelle Abschluss des Freihandelsabkommens TTIP wird immer unwahrscheinlicher. Ein E-Mail-Scharmützel zwischen Brüssel und Washington offenbart enorme Differenzen - und kaum Kompromissbereitschaft.
Bundeswirtschaftsminister Sigmar Gabriel (SPD) schließt ein von Vorstellungen der USA dominiertes transatlantisches Handelsabkommen aus. „Das will niemand“, sagte Gabriel am Mittwoch während einer aktuellen Stunde zum umstrittenen Freihandelsabkommen TTIP im Bundestag.
Erst zum Wirtschaftsforum, dann zur Partei: Gleich zwei Termine zu TTIP an einem Tag hatte Sigmar Gabriel zu absolvieren. Schulterklopfen erntete er vor allem bei der Wirtschaft. Denn viele Genossen haben trotz Zugeständnissen weiter Vorbehalte.
Der Streit um TTIP stürzt SPD-Chef Gabriel in ein Dilemma. Schuld daran sind die geplanten Schiedsgerichte. Denn obwohl auch Rot-Grün seinerzeit viele Investitionsschutzabkommen abschloss, läuft die SPD-Basis nun Sturm.
An den geplanten Handelsabkommen mit den USA und Kanada scheiden sich die Geister. Dass Wirtschaftsminister Gabriel fast nur die Vorzüge von TTIP und Ceta betont, sorgt für Ärger bei Experten, die er selbst berufen hat.
Bisher lehnten die Gewerkschaften das transatlantische Abkommen ab. Nun hat SPD-Chef Sigmar Gabriel sie umgestimmt. In einem Positionspapier, das der SZ vorliegt, bekennt sich der Deutsche Gewerkschaftsbund zum TTIP. Allerdings stellen die Arbeitnehmervertreter Bedingungen.
Der Umgang mit TTIP von EU und Bundesregierung
Im Umgang mit Entwicklungsländern, aber auch mit Industrieländern wie China, Russland, der Türkei und noch vielen anderen führen die westlichen Industriestaaten gerne das Wort Demokratie im Mund und fordern diese von den genannten ein. Nur, die Demokratie und die damit verbundenen Eigenschaften guter Staatsführung ("good governance") wie Transparenz, Partizipation, eine freie und plurale Presse, Nachvollziehbarkeit von Entscheidungen und ihres Zustandekommens werden in den demokratischen Ländern auch nur dann in Anschlag gebracht, wenn es den Regierenden und den vorherrschenden Lobbygruppen und ihren willfährigen Qualitätsjournalisten gerade in den Kram passt.
Anstatt die Verhandlungen zum transatlantischen Freihandelsabkommen zu torpedieren, sollten sich die Gegner lieber aktiv daran beteiligen, meint Bundeswirtschaftsminister Sigmar Gabriel.
