Das globalisierungskritische Netzwerk Attac hat die EU-Abgeordneten aufgefordert, am Mittwoch das geplante Freihandelsabkommen zwischen Kanada und der EU abzulehnen. "Nimmt das Europäische Parlament seine eigenen Maßstäbe ernst, muss es gegen CETA stimmen", stellte Roland Süß von Attac Deutschland fest
Der frühere Reagan-Berater Robert Lighthizer gilt in Sachen Freihandel als Hardliner. Er soll künftig für Donald Trump die Handelsgespräche führen – eine schlechte Nachricht für den Rest der Welt.
Das bisherige Modell des ungebremsten Freihandels produziert zu viele Verlierer und ist weder ökonomisch noch politisch aufrecht zu erhalten. Die angeblich einzige Alternative, eine Abkehr von der Globalisierung und Hinwendung zum Protektionismus, ist jedoch in der heutigen Zeit wirtschaftlich kaum denkbar und würde zu massiven politischen Konflikten führen. Eine politisch herbeigeführte Verteuerung des Transports, etwa durch eine Güterverkehrssteuer, könnte einen Mittelweg darstellen und zu einer “sanften Regionalisierung” führen.
Anlässlich der internationalen Konferenz „Anders handeln“ bestärkten heute VertreterInnen von Gewerkschaften, NGOs und sozialen Bewegungen in Wien ihr grundsätzliche Ablehnung der aktuellen internationalen Handelsagenda – aktuell repräsentiert durch TTIP. Es gehe nicht darum, an der einen oder andren Schraube in TTIP zu drehen. Nötig sei eine grundlegend andere Handels- und Investitionspolitik, die Antworten auf die aktuelle soziale, ökologische und demokratische Krise bietet. TTIP vertieft all diese Krisen weiter.
39 KandidatInnen aus Deutschland erklären, sich für Handels- und Investitionsregeln einzusetzen, die Mensch und Natur dienen und nicht dem Profitinteresse weniger Großkonzerne.
Am Samstag finden in sieben deutschen Städten Demonstrationen gegen die Freihandelsabkommen TTIP und Ceta statt. Die Kundgebung in Frankfurt organisiert SPD-Frau Stefanie Then.
Durch TTIP und Ceta würden mühsam errungene Standards gefährdet, warnen Kritiker. Am Samstag wollen sie gegen die geplanten Freihandelsabkommen demonstrieren.
SPD und Attac können sich schonen, TTIP stirbt allemal einen langsamen Tod. Der US-Wahlkampf hat das Projekt erledigt, selbst eine Präsidentin Clinton wird ihr Kapital dafür nicht ausgeben.
Die Diskussion über die Verabschiedung des sog. Freihandelsabkommens CETA bekam vor einigen Tagen eine neue Wende. Bisher wurde CETA als gemischtes Abkommen betrachtet, über das nicht ohne Beteiligung von Bundestag und Bundesrat entschieden werden kann. Kritiker sahen eine Hauptaufgabe darin zu verhindern, dass die Entscheidung des Parlaments durch eine vorläufige Anwendung vorweggenommen wird. Sie müssen sich wohl umorientieren, denn die Kommission kommt mit einer neuen Strategie.
Da auf eine bessere Einsicht bei Regierenden und sonstigen Beteiligten nicht wirklich zu hoffen ist, sollen die geplanten Freihandelsabkommen auf allen nur erdenklichen Wegen gesellschaftlicher Protest- und Aktionsformen gestoppt werden. Selbstverständlich stand diese Frage auch im Mittelpunkt der TTIP Strategie- und Aktionskonferenz, die, von einem breiten Bündnis vorbereitet und organisiert, am 26. und 27. Februar in Kassel stattfand.
