El código ORCID es un identificador único de autores de publicaciones científicas que evita la confusión que se da cuando otras personas coinciden en la manera como firman sus trabajos, cuando se utilizan distintas formas de combinaciones de los nombres (en el caso de que ciertas publicaciones sean firmadas con los dos apellidos completos o solo con uno e inicial del segundo, etc.), o cuando son transcritos a otros idiomas.
