Welcome to the Ranking Web of Universities, also known as Webometrics Ranking. The new edition has been published on the 7th of February based on data collected during the first days of January. It provides the largest and most updated directory and ranking of higher education institutions (now over 21000!) in the world.
Enabling collaboration and discovery among scientists across all disciplines.
The network of scientists will facilitate scholarly discovery. Institutions will participate in the network by installing VIVO, or by providing semantic web-compliant data to the network.
A STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT BY STM PUBLISHERS TO A ROADMAP TO ENABLE TEXT AND DATA MINING (TDM) FOR NON COMMERCIAL SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN THE EUROPEAN UNION
Written by PLoS Computational Biology Editor-in-Chief Philip E. Bourne, sometimes with collaborators, the "Ten Simple Rules" provide a quick, concentrated guide for mastering some of the professional challenges research scientists face in their careers. New articles will be added to the Ten Simple Rules Collections as they are published.
First there was the “impact factor.” Then came the “h-index.” Now, for those who believe that scientific prowess can be measured by statistical metrics, comes the Acuna-Allesina-Kording formula.
SCIENCE EXPRESS - AN INDO-GERMAN PATHWAY TO DISCOVERY. This exhibition on wheels will travel 15,000 kilometres within 210 days, stopping in 57 cities throughout India.
ResearchGate is a network dedicated to science and research. Connect, collaborate and discover scientific publications, jobs and conferences. All for free.
myExperiment is a collaborative environment where scientists can safely publish their workflows and experiment plans, share them with groups and find those of others. Workflows, other digital objects and collections (called Packs) can now be swapped, sorted and searched like photos and videos on the Web. Unlike Facebook or MySpace, myExperiment fully understands the needs of the researcher. myExperiment makes it really easy for the next generation of scientists to contribute to a pool of scientific workflows, build communities and form relationships. It enables scientists to share, reuse and repurpose workflows and reduce time-to-experiment, share expertise and avoid reinvention.
Do you have dozens of PDF files from your favorite scientific articles scattered on your harddrive? Do you also try to desperately organize them by renaming and archiving them in folders? But like the piles of printed articles on your desk, you can't keep up with all the new papers you download, and despite all your efforts it has become impossible to find that one article.
A study of the flow of manuscript submissions reveals a highly structured and efficient network of scientific journals where peer-review plays a critical role in the improvement and slotting of papers.
Die Wikipedia gehört zu den meist aufgerufenen Webseiten der Welt, manche unterstellen ihr ein Wissensmonopol. Die Autoren sind ausschließlich Freiwillige, darunter auch Wissenschaftler.
This is a brief list of recommendations for authors of scientific papers who make their work available online. It focuses in particular on producing high-quality PDF files with LaTeX and covers some other technical and typographic pitfalls.
We are proud to announce the beta release series of JupyterLab, the next-generation web-based interface for Project Jupyter. Project Jupyter exists to develop open-source software, open standards…
The mission of the Journal of Machine Learning Gossip (JMLG) is to provide an archival source of important information that is often discussed informally at conferences but is rarely, if ever, written down.
For what reasons do academics follow one another on Twitter? Robert Jäschke, Stephanie B. Linek and Christian P. Hoffmann analysed the Twitter activity of computer scientists and found that while the quality of information provided by a Twitter account is a key motive for following academic colleagues, there is also evidence of a career planning motive. As well as there being reciprocal following between users of the same academic status (except, remarkably, between PhD researchers), a form of strategic politeness can be observed whereby users follow those of higher academic status without necessarily being followed back. The emerging academic public sphere facilitated by Twitter is largely shaped by dynamics and hierarchies all too familiar to researchers struggling to plot their careers in academia.
